The flying masterpiece of engineering and at the same time one of the Luftwaffe's main workhorses. Yes! - Today we are going to talk about Transall C-160. Developed in the early 60-ties and still in active service after the first flight in 1963. It is a military transport aircraft designed by European company Transport Allianz or simply - Transall. The company is compromising such aviation pioneers as VFW-Fokker, Aerospatiale, and MBB. C-160 actually can carry up to 16 tons of various cargo for a distance of almost 1850 kilometers. Developed as military transport it also had some civil versions which were delivered to small numbers of civil operators. Sadly soon it is going to be replaced by Airbus A400M and the summer of 2021 could be the last when we will be able to see these birds in the air. On June 3rd some tour with lots of low passes was performed in Northern Germany, another one is planned in August. The official retirement date is around December 2021, so if You possibly can go and see it, we advise You to do it faster, because the clock is ticking for these beautiful machines.
